Determinants of Financial Management Behavior: The Role of Financial Knowledge, Financial Attitude, and Income among Banking Frontliner Employees

Yuli Agustina

Abstract

This study aims to examine the determinants of financial management behavior by analyzing the role of financial knowledge, financial attitude, and income among banking frontliner employees in Indonesia. In the context of rapid digitalization and increasing consumerism, understanding how individuals manage their finances has become increasingly important, particularly for employees working in the financial sector who are expected to demonstrate sound financial practices. This research adopts a quantitative approach using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through structured questionnaires from frontliner employees in the banking sector and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that financial knowledge, financial attitude, and income each have a positive and significant effect on financial management behavior. Moreover, these variables simultaneously contribute significantly to shaping individuals’ financial behavior. Financial knowledge enhances individuals’ ability to make informed financial decisions, while financial attitude reflects a responsible mindset toward financial planning and control. In addition, income plays a crucial role in enabling individuals to effectively allocate and manage their financial resources. This study highlights the importance of strengthening financial literacy and fostering positive financial attitudes, supported by adequate income, to promote better financial management behavior. The findings also provide practical implications for financial institutions in developing strategies to improve employees’ financial awareness and responsibility.
